Person Centred Islamic Counselling in Dudley, Sandwell and Online

Initial Consultation

I offer a free 15-20 minute initial consultation where we can talk about what's bringing you to counselling and how I might be able to support you. There's no pressure and no commitment. It's simply a chance for us to meet, for you to ask any questions, and for both of us to get a sense of whether we're a good fit. This conversation helps you understand what I offer and gives me insight into what you're hoping to achieve.

My Approach

Person-Centred Therapy

I offer person-centred and Islamic counselling, which means you're at the heart of everything we do. Person-centred therapy is built on the belief that you are the expert in your own life. My role is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, make sense of what's happening, and discover your own path forward. I'm not here to tell you what to do or impose solutions. Instead, I listen deeply, offer empathy and understanding, and support you in finding what works for you.

Faith-Based Support

The Islamic element of my practice means I understand the importance of faith and cultural values in shaping who we are. Whether you're navigating religious questions, cultural pressures, or simply want a therapist who gets that dimension of your life, I create a therapeutic environment that honours your beliefs rather than setting them aside. My approach is based on Islamic principles and values.

Integrative & Solution-Focused

My approach is also integrative and solution-focused. This means I can draw on different therapeutic techniques depending on what you need, always working collaboratively towards the outcomes that matter to you. Solution-focused work looks forward rather than dwelling on the past. We'll identify what you want to achieve, explore what's already working in your life, and build on your existing strengths to create practical, meaningful change. Some people need short-term support to work through a specific challenge. Others benefit from a longer therapeutic relationship. We'll work at your pace, focusing on developing healthier ways of coping that align with your values.

How I Work

I offer counselling sessions in person at my practice in Dudley and I also offer support online and via telephone. Online and telephone sessions give you the flexibility to access support from wherever you feel comfortable, whether that's at home or somewhere private that works for you. In-person sessions offer a dedicated physical space away from daily life where you can focus fully on yourself. All my approaches are equally effective, and we can discuss which feels right for you during our initial consultation. Sessions typically last 50 minutes and happen weekly, though we can adjust the frequency based on what you need.

Issues I Can Help With

I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, addiction, and stress in its many forms. You might be struggling with work-related pressures, finding it difficult to cope with health issues, or navigating complicated relationship dynamics. Perhaps you're dealing with low self-esteem or self-confidence, grieving a loss, or going through a significant life transition that's left you feeling uncertain.

My background as an Imam and NHS chaplain means I'm particularly experienced in supporting people with religious and faith-based concerns. Whether you're questioning aspects of your faith, feeling caught between cultural expectations and your own needs, struggling with religious OCD, or simply want a space where your spiritual life is understood and valued, that's something we can explore together. Whatever's brought you here, we'll start where you are and work towards where you want to be.

Reaching out can feel daunting. That's why I offer a free initial consultation. It's a chance for us to talk for 15-20 minutes about what's bringing you to counselling and how I might be able to support you. No pressure, no commitment. Just a conversation to see if we're a good fit.

FAQs

How long does counselling take?

That depends entirely on you and what you're hoping to achieve. Some people find that a few sessions help them work through a specific challenge, whilst others benefit from longer-term support. We'll review your progress regularly and you're always in control of when you feel ready to finish.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes, absolutely. Everything you share in our sessions is confidential. The only exceptions are if you disclose something that suggests you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, or if I'm legally required to break confidentiality. I'll always discuss these boundaries with you at the start.

What if I'm not sure counselling is for me?

That's a really normal feeling. The free initial consultation exists exactly for this reason. It gives you a chance to experience what talking to me is like, ask questions, and get a sense of whether this feels right for you, without any commitment.

How will I know when I'm ready to finish counselling?

Ending counselling is something we'll discuss together. You might feel you've achieved what you set out to do, developed the coping strategies you need, or simply feel ready to continue your journey independently. We'll take time to review your progress and plan your ending properly, so you leave feeling confident and supported. You're always welcome to return in the future if you need further support.

Do you work with people who aren't Muslim?

Absolutely. Whilst I specialise in Islamic counselling, I welcome clients from all backgrounds and beliefs. My practice is about creating a space where your values, whatever they are, are respected and honoured.
